School Changes
We interviewed many students and teachers at Northfleet School for Girls and got some opinions on the changes around school. Ella, from year 7, stated “In the new uniform, which we will be wearing in September, I did like the uniform, it was smart and modern but I think Mr Norwood could consider changing the block colour tie to striped tie”. Other students were really pleased with it – Weronika from Year 8 said “it is really smart” and Olivia said “it seems to be much better quality”.
We also interviewed the some year 9 and 11 students who said the following:
“I do like the uniform I think it looks smart”
“We like that the uniform has become cheaper due to having white shirts instead of coloured”
All the students said they liked the canteen but would prefer if the food was cheaper, they also love having base in the morning so they can sort their things out for the day and they can go straight to lunch after fourth lesson.
Teachers at Northfleet School for Girls that we interviewed said
“Uniform is a positive change I like the tie as it the colour of your college, and I like how having the different colours on the badge shows we are bringing all the colleges together”
They also said:
“I like base in the morning because your problems and notices can sorted before you start the day”
We also interviewed Mr Norwood our head teacher. In his interview he said that the decision to change the uniform was because it would look smarter and more modern. The current uniform is quite expensive and this new one will be cheaper for parents to buy. There has been a lot of discussion and students wanted to be part of the school and part of their own college, so this is where the idea of the badge colours and the tie came from.
The decision to move the Base time to the morning was to allow students to sort out any problems for students before the day started and so that they could see their Base Leaders early.
The Sixth Form room was to allow the Sixth Form to have their own space for them to relax and be separate from the younger students.
Mr Norwood also discussed the new trips. He said it would be a great opportunity for students to go on trips and visit different places.
